Meet The Sommelier:

I am Francisco Chagolla Retzloff, the sommelier at the Harbor View Hotel on Martha’s Vineyard. Our team strives to provide exceptional service and an unforgettable experience for our guests. Our exceptional wine program services three distinct restaurants within the hotel with Bettini Restaurant being our flagship. As a sommelier, I am dedicated to exceeding our guests’ expectations by offering an extensively curated and diverse wine list.

I developed my passion for hospitality while working at a small bistro in Texas, where I had my first experience in the world of wine. Later, I worked as a sommelier in a high-end hospitality group in San Antonio, where I had access to one of the best wine lists in Texas. I am certified by the Court of Master Sommeliers and the Wine & Spirit Education Trust. I also have had the opportunity to travel to various wine regions in Europe and the United States, which deepened my understanding and appreciation of wine and its culture. Some of my favorite producers include Maria Teresa from Bartolo Mascarello in Piedmont, Alain Hudelot-Noëllat in the Côted’Or in Burgundy, and Jason Lett from the Eyrie Vineyards in McMinnville. I particularly enjoy German and Austrian wines, with Nikolaihof in the Wachau being one of my favorites. I am known for going above and beyond to source wines with specific vintages, unique character, and finesse.

I enjoy building relationships with my favorite producers, and I love to eat everything from traditional Mexican street food to innovative cuisine from Michelin-starred restaurants in San Sebastian. My travels have given me a deep appreciation for hospitality and service, and I strive to be a gracious host and assist our guests in having an unforgettable experience at our restaurants.
